Pizza! Part Deux
Our other top 5 pizza joint is Lombardi's. Purported to be the first pizzeria in America, it's a charming joint with a well worn feel. It's also one of two charcoal oven pizzerias in New York. Charcoal ovens have been outlawed because of the pollution they produce, but the birthplace of American pizza gets a pass.
This was beyond excellent pizza. I would have proclaimed it to be the best pizza I'd ever had, but for a twist of fate. Diners, Drive-ins and Dives had done a special on a place in KC, and my sister's family took us there a couple of weeks earlier.
A truly divine experience, I have to maintain that Grinders is the best pizza I've had, but Lombardi's comes close.

I still think Lombardi's is better, but not by much. It would be a much larger scale if it wasn't for the Chili Bomb at Grinders, a truly one of a kind experience.
By the way, Papa Keno's on Mass is open again. I was near there last night and made a point of checking, since I had heard they reopened.
