I agree, whole heartedly.
Baseball rules.
You and Earl are both lame.
It wasn't assault and wouldn't have been. And a 70+ MPH fastball? This isn't little league.
I'm no lawyer, but it seems to me that the pitcher would have "mens rea". That means that hitting someone with a pitch isn't assault unless the pitcher has intent. Obviously being told to bean the batter is intent.
I agree. Baseball sucks alot. But that can be said about most sports in my opinion. Sports just create opportunities for men to release aggression and instead of getting arrested for assault, it's "just part of the game".
Well, I feel that this is different than a hockey fight or a football hit. This was an order from a manager to injure a guy who can't fight back. On top of that the press didn't even flinch. There was no outcry. No other sport has anything like that.
